Responsibilities:

The US Assistant Controller will have responsibility for the performance and compliance of accounting practices for the US business of GHD, working in partnership with the Americas Controller and the Canadian Assistant Controller. This includes transaction processing and support, maintenance of financial records, lead the US accounting closing and coordination of audits and preparation of US financial statements.

This senior role provides critical support to the North America Controller, and the Americas CFO. The US Assistant Controller will guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors. A strong candidate to hold strategic position within accounting department in the medium term, the incumbent should easily and immediately add value to the Finance function of GHD and be ready for expanded duties within two to three years.

The US Assistant Controller works collaboratively with the Americas Regional Finance Managers to ensure financial reports are accurate, well understood and key business issues are being addressed by the team.

The US Assistant Controller will work closely with the North America Controller to ensure GHD comply with US Government contracting accounting regulations.

Qualification, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or equivalent number of years of experience, plus 10-15 years of finance experience.
  • CPA designation or/and MBA, preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in a finance leadership role; proven leadership with financial planning & analysis, system and analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
  • Strong communication and analytical skills to be able to articulate financial data in a non-technical manner and vice versa.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to manage detailed requirements efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work autonomously and with limited direct supervision while delivering on a multiple of tasks and deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills and other analytical tools (PowerBI, TM1, etc...)
  • Able to manage business outcomes with planning and prioritizing workload. Demonstrate experience in managing a Team of 4 or more.
  • Excellent project management, analytics, and consulting skills; the ability to interpret data and tell a story
  • An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards, a lead-by-example style that promotes a positive, team-based environment.
  • Experience in the professional services sector. Big 4 preferred.
