Assistant Director for Alumnae/i Events Programming

Trinity Washington University seeks a dynamic, creative, and organized individual to serve as the Assistant Director for Alumnae/i Events Programming. The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director of Alumnae/i Giving and Engagement and will serve as a vital member of the development and alumni engagement team. The Assistant Director will play a key role in developing and implementing exciting engagement opportunities and effective communications messaging for all alumni to strengthen connections to Trinity and to further their philanthropic giving. This is a full-time, twelve-month position that includes occasional weekend and evening work.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND TASKS:

Event Development and Planning - Provide event and program logistical management for on-campus and virtual events and meetings, including reunion, class meetings and other events.

  • Event Management
    • Logistics management including but not limited to: booking external venues, managing hotel contracts, event registration, mailings, reviewing and assisting with expense tracking.
  • New Program Development
    • Ability to conceptualize new programs and events with a focus on affinity and career-based programming.

Communications - Use various platforms and methods (including direct contact, social media, alumni website, e-newsletters, and print materials) to engage alumni consistently and thoughtfully, celebrate their achievements, and highlight opportunities for alumni involvement with Trinity and each other.

  • Work with colleagues to write, design, and send monthly alumni e-newsletters and invitations. Use data-driven segmentation strategies to effectively engage alumni.
  • Collaborate with team members on specific alumni-related communications including alumni profile identification and outreach to alumni via social media.
  • Develop and implement a Social Media Strategy including content development and creation of strategic multi-media campaigns to engage diverse audiences.
  • Employ segmentation strategies to employ tailored messaging for affinity and other groups of Trinity alumni.

General - Work with fellow Alumnae/I Assistant Director and other team members on the following.

  • Respond to incoming phone calls and emails from alumnae/i, friends, staff and other departments.
  • Ensure accurate and complete alumnae/i database records, working with the Development Research and Records Manager and Development Associate.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

LEVEL & TYPE OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in alumni relations, event planning, development, or a related field. Experience in higher ed is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in conceiving, planning, implementing and staffing events, both online and in-person.
  • Experience utilizing print and digital media to communicate with alumni, including familiarity with Social Media platforms and digital marketing.
  • Volunteer management experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Intermediate proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office, and social media platforms. Constant Contact and Word Press experience is a plus.
  • Experience with CRM databases (Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge preferred).
  • Ability to learn databases and software programs quickly
  • Design skills for creating content, marketing materials and posting on all social media outlets is a plus. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is ideal.
  • Superlative interpersonal and communication skills are essential - both written and oral skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate and connect with a diverse population of alums across many generations.
  • Work ethic and style: dedicated, proactive, organized, self-directed, responsible, reliable, and attentive to deadlines. Able to effectively multitask in a professional, trustworthy and mature manner with tact, diplomacy, and appropriate judgment.
  • Ability to problem solve and determine creative solutions
  • Ability to actively collaborate with all School constituencies.
  • Professional attire and presentation are required.

SCHEDULE:

  • Minimum of 40 hours per week required
  • Must be available for evening and weekend meetings and events
  • Opportunity to work from home one day per week
