Position Summary

The Department of Radiology at Michigan State University is accepting applications for a 9-month appointment (tenure system) Assistant Professor position in the nuclear medicine program. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled radiochemist with a Ph.D. in chemistry or related field with a minimum of 2 years of research experience in preparation of radiotracers for imaging and therapy. Experience with quality assurance and preparation of CMC sections of IND applications for obtaining FDA approval for clinical studies is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to participate in a sustainable research program, make significant scholarly contributions to their discipline, and engage in institutional and professional service. The applicant should have a demonstrated track records of producing unique PET tracers for applications in cancer or neurosciences research.

The position will be housed in the Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering; radiosynthesis will be conducted in the radiopharmacy approximately ½ block from the Institute.

Minimum Requirements

PhD in chemistry or related field with 2 years of research experience in radiochemistry, and knowledge and experience with quality assurance of imaging and therapeutic agents and release testing. The applicant must have at least 1 year of hands-on experience with chemical synthesis modules using high levels of radioactivity and experience with all quality assurance protocols and instruments.

Desired Qualifications

It is desirable to have experience with imaging instrumentation for animals and humans.
