The Associate Dean of Health Technologies is a leader who works to support and develop opportunities for students that meet our communities' changing healthcare needs. The Associate Dean reports to the Associate Vice President of Health Sciences to meet the goals and mission of the college.
The Associate Dean provides leadership to both credit and non-credit programs. The dean provides leadership in the creation, maintenance, revision, or deletion of curriculum, courses, sequences of courses and programs of study offered by or within Health Technologies, and all managerial activities related to that curriculum (including periodic assessments, required reporting, state and other agency approval processes, and accreditation/licensure requirements). Current credit programs include Dental, Physical Therapist Assistant, Emergency Medical Services, Pharmacy Technician, Health and Physical Education, and Surgical Technology. Current and developing non-credit offerings include Emergency Medical Services, EKG Technician, Phlebotomy, Medical Billing and Coding, Doula, Behavioral Health Technician, and Sterile Processing.
The position provides direct management and supervision for the Health Technologies faculty and staff and works efficiently in an environment of change. This 12-month administrative faculty position recruits, recommends for hiring and manages full and part-time faculty with duties such as completing classroom observations for evaluation, overseeing strategic planning documentation, and assisting with day-to-day issues that support instruction. This position is responsible for reviewing credentials and salary placement, monitoring the scheduling process, and assisting with college, divisional, and community events.
The Associate Dean collaborates with other college deans, business community, external partners and constituents, college faculty, relevant departments, serve employers and customers. This position works effectively with internal and external partners to provide programs and services that meet the diverse and changing needs of the community. The position works with the Dean of Professional and Technical Studies and Workforce Development to provide leadership to align noncredit healthcare programming efforts with best practices and a self-sufficiency model by using metrics, reports, and financial projections to ensure programming meets benchmarks and revenue accountability.
The Associate Dean will work in collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Health Sciences, the Associate Dean of Nursing, and the Health Science administrative assistants to monitor and assist with the scheduling process to meet student and program needs, efficiencies, effectiveness of course scheduling, allocation of faculty in classrooms, and schedule courses that balance seats with student demand.
The Associate Dean exercises responsibility over internal and external activities, implementation of its strategic plan, and its financial management. The Associate Dean will also work with the Associate Vice President of Health Sciences to identify priorities for philanthropic support and secure such support for teaching, research, program development, professional development, facilities, equipment, scholarships, and other needs, while providing leadership and information. A thorough understanding of diversity in student and employee populations and the ability to connect with, include, and consider all student and employee populations in curriculum development and teaching is required. The Associate Dean must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders important to the college while fostering an understanding and belief in the comprehensive mission of community colleges, including workforce development.The Associate Dean must have a record of excellence in teaching and scholarship and demonstrated successful administrative leadership, including management of budgets, personnel, and curriculum. They should also have experience with the evaluation and development of faculty and staff, experience in resource development and community engagement, and a commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and shared governance.
