The Rustandy Center's mission is to advance research, promote innovation, and develop the people and practices to accelerate solving the social problems confronting our world. This position focuses on supporting the Rustandy Center's program goals to 1) equip Booth students and alumni to increase their social impact by applying their business and management skills, knowledge, and experience; and 2) be the leading university-based launch pad and knowledge center for the next generation of social entrepreneurs and the people who fund them. Job Summary

The Associate Director, Edwardson Social Entrepreneurship Program (ESEP) leads the oversight and administration for multiple Rustandy Center programs and activities with a focus on impact investing and ESG investing. Responsibilities include program stewardship, event execution, research, and stakeholder engagement for the Steven Tarrson Impact Investment Fund, Turner MIINT impact investing competition, and other new and existing programs. It is based in the Hyde Park campus with occasional events and meetings in downtown Chicago (primarily around the Gleacher Center campus.) Currently, Chicago Booth is following a hybrid work schedule, with staff members expected to work in-person a minimum of three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, manages, and grows the suite of ESG and impact investing programs within the Edwardson Social Entrepreneurship Program.
  • Works closely with Center leadership and faculty to set impact investing and ESG programmatic goals. Serves as the point person for the Center as it relates to coordinating impact investing and ESG activities across the school.
  • Manages relationships with select Investors-in-Residence, working with them on relevant programs and workshops and supporting office hours with students.
  • Serves as primary liaison to the students participating in the Steven Tarrson Impact investment Fund and Impact Investing student group. Works with students on recruitment, communications with the University Investment Office, completion of audited fund financials, and more.
  • Manages student impact investing competitions, including application processes. This includes current programs such as the Turner MBA Impact Investing Network and Training Program (MIINT), Kellogg-Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investment Challenge, IEN SIILK Student Corporate Engagement Competition, Perspectives in Impact Investing, Total Impact Portfolio Challenge, and the Invest for Impact case competition program.
  • Develops and executes external-facing ESG programming, including fostering thought leadership related to these topics.
  • Works closely with the Rustandy Center marketing team to develop internal and external strategies to raise awareness of impact investing and ESG programs.
  • Initiates and develops relationships with stakeholders in the impact investing ecosystem, notably within the venture capital, private equity, and ESG investing domains. This will also include proactive identification of speaking/writing opportunities for Rustandy leadership at industry conferences and publications.
  • Liaise with and develops relationships with student group leaders at Chicago Booth (including the Impact Investing club, Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital club, Investment Management club, and more) and at other units (Harris Finance Group, Harris Ventures).
  • Fosters alumni communities and closer connections to the Center for participants in impact investing programming, notably Turner MIINT and Steven Tarrson Impact Investing Fund alumni.
  • Contributes to the evolution of the ESEP program by collaborating with the Director and Assistant Director, refining our programs, tracking program developments at peer institutions, developing relationships with external organizations to build the pipeline of social entrepreneurs and impact investors, and more.
  • Provides key course support for impact investing lab courses at the University, working closely with students and faculty on these programs.
  • Helps develop and track metrics to assess the success of ESEP initiatives.
  • Uses in-depth knowledge and experience to recommend concepts for programming to leaders of various organizations and programs.
  • Markets student activities programming throughout the year. Develops and implements protocols for evaluating the effectiveness of programs.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

  • Master's degree in a related discipline.

Experience:
  • A minimum four years of experience in program or project management, and/or business administration.
  • Demonstrated experience and interest in social entrepreneurship and/or impact investing (venture capital, private equity, ESG).

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and MS Office.

Preferred Competencies
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Creative and resourceful with strong problem-solving skills and willingness to seek out, coordinate, and appropriately disseminate information to key stakeholders.
  • Enjoys administrative work and event planning.

Working Conditions
  • Flexibility to travel locally and staff morning / evening events multiple times per month.
  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
