Summary: The Associate Director of Advancement provides direct support to the operations of Breckenridge Village of Tyler by the acquisition of new donor sources, nurturing current donor relationships, event planning, coordinating the BVT auxiliary and volunteers, and strategically branding BVT utilizing existing and new methods.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; fundraising experience can be substituted
Experience: The ideal candidate is high-energy and passionate about helping others and specifically those with developmental disabilities and their families. Must be able to meet people of all economic and sociological backgrounds with ease and cultivate relationships with individuals, foundations, corporations and churches. He/she must have experience in donor acquisition follow-up with gift requisition. Must have exceptional organizational skills, be well-disciplined and able to meet deadlines, and thrive on challenges and professional independence. A knowledge of grant writing and estate planning would be a plus.

Essential Functions:
1. Understands and effectively communicates the BVT story that will honor, value and represent the BVT residents and their families to the community at large.
2. Uses grant writing experience to assist in the creation and submission of grant proposals to appropriate entities such as foundations, corporations and etc. that support capital campaigns.
3. Strategizes and executes short- and long-term fundraising goals to secure new fund-raising sources for unrestricted, restricted and planned gift support. 4. Fosters and grows relationships among current and prospective donors through (but not limited to) speaking engagements and events.
5. Coordinates and appreciates the BVT auxiliary in volunteer opportunities for the benefit of BVT Advancement team.
6. Helps with appreciation of these auxiliary and other volunteers with annual recognition.
7. Represents BVT is such a way as to uphold the positive image of the Agency to the public and private sectors.
8. Assists in developing materials such as gift proposals, donor reports, memos, and other communications and marketing materials, as appropriate.
9. Provide updates to Associate Executive Director of Advancement of all existing and new appeal communications, communication material and goals prior to delivery, to ensure it is in line with agency budget needs and branding requirements.
10. Provide ongoing situational awareness and written reports to Associate Executive Director of Advancement of status of financial goals.
11. Maintains strong BVT presence in Tyler and East Texas communities each week.
12. Serves on internal and external committees as assigned by the Executive Director.
Measurable Deliverables:
1. Ensure that all donations are deposited and properly recorded in Salesforce. 2. Responsible for securing new donor sources to fund annual scholarship needs as assigned.
3. All donations are properly acknowledged with a thank letter in a timely manner.
4. Support Associate Executive Director of Advancement to meet all challenge grant/capital campaign goals.
5. Increase new donor contacts/prospects annually.
6. Work effectively with the Associate Executive Director of Advancement, and all funding source entities.
7. Prepare and maintain department reports as assigned.
8. Assist in preparation of strategy and action plans for gaps in fundraising should they occur.
9. Weekly consultation with Associate Executive Director of Advancement to ensure service and deliverables are being met.
10. Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by the position supervisor.
11. Implement BVT safety protocols including evacuating with residents and other staff in case of an emergency.
12. Maintain BVT professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the BVT employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.
Credentials, Skills and Abilities:
1. Maintain current licenses and certificates required for this position including, but not limited to: First Aid and CPR (will be provided by BVT).
2. Possess a valid Texas drivers' license, work eligibility status and have a good driving record.
3. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
4. Must pass all pre-employment background checks, including: Criminal History, Employee Misconduct, Nurse's Aide Registry, driving check and pass annual background checks.
5. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screen throughout employment.
6. Knows the indicators of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and appropriate reporting and documentation procedures.
