BGIS is currently seeking an Associate VP - HSE US Operations to join the team. This opportunity is remote with travel primarily to Southeastern US.

*This can be a hybrid role when not traveling.

Position is performed remotely; however, may require travel/driving to client locations for training, meetings and other in-person events.

The Associate VP - HSE US Operations provides strategic direction and effective leadership for Environmental Health and Safety Initiatives so that BGIS builds upon its reputation as proactive best-in-class corporate citizens.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Leadership

  • Lead the efforts of the US Occupational Health and Safety Team to ensure effective maintenance of ISO registration for ISO45001 and 14001, that annual safety plans to achieve compliance are developed.
  • Leads the US HSE audit strategy, ensures audits are completed and monitors completion of audit-related actions.
  • Ensures workers compensation issues are administered effectively and in accordance with all applicable laws.
  • Direct the development for the US strategy of continuous improvement in BGIS' Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems. Lead US response for internal or third-party audits. Participate in development of global HSE strategy.
  • Lead the transition efforts for any new acquisitions to ensure risks are adequately managed and BGIS processes are implemented.
  • Manage the HSE support for the business areas in the US (IFM, Technical Services and Critical Infrastructure) to ensure its team members' health and safety risks are minimized.
  • Provide oversight for investigations and leads the action development and follow up.
  • Chair various internal organizational teams/committees that help develop Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety mission, policies, and respective goals/objectives.
  • Serve as an agent of the company and representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Customers, Suppliers, industry related groups, and various non-profit, educational, government, and community entities.
  • Develop and integrates organization responses to new regulations and development in the field of Health and Safety in the US.
  • Identify and report on key indicators of success. Work to harmonize metrics between US and other BGIS international geographies.
  • Investigates any/all potential safety and environmental hazards present at all sites and take steps to reduce the hazards and mitigate any potential safety and environment health hazards.
  • Participate in any RFP/RPQ in developing Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental response. Participates in due diligence reviews for new acquisitions.
People Leadership
  • Ensure effective staffing, budgets, financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all of job sites and office locations, (including acquisitions) on regulatory compliance issues in Safety, Occupational and environmental Health.
  • Create a working atmosphere that promotes openness in a high level of enthusiasm and morale in the field around safety issues. Create one team with a common mission
  • Identify required talent to successfully execute excellent client service and partner with talent team to source, select, on-board, and train team members.
  • Review and document individual performance and track team accomplishments.
  • Provide regular individual performance feedback.
  • Support individual professional and career development.
  • Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Fifteen years of experience managing in increasingly complex organizations.
  • Leadership, managerial presence required to successfully influence all levels of a complex, multi-business, geographically diverse organization. Experience in an Integrated Facility Management (IFM) environment and working with trades / technical staff is preferred.
  • Experience with ISO management systems. ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is preferred.
  • Experience successfully leading and managing transformational change in an organization.
  • Skill with identifying, defining, and actualizing organization-wide objectives in a practical, measurable way with defined results.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Familiarity with process improvement and statistical analyses modalities to ensure accurate, effective measurement and reporting of goals and results.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing safety programs preferred.
  • Proficient in computer applications including the Microsoft Office Suite.

The salary range for this exempt position in the US is $140k-150k.

A candidate's salary offer is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, and location.
