Position Summary

This position will; Participate in the development and revisions of program mission, vision, goals, meetings and ongoing program self-assessment / program evaluation activities. Generate and deliver classroom lectures and clinical skills instruction within the basic medical and clinical science topics for which he/she is assigned. Participate in curriculum development, curriculum evaluation, remedial instruction, student evaluation, and scheduling of the PA medicine curriculum. Teaching as Instructor of Record for assigned courses within the PA Medicine Curriculum. Participate in admissions processes by scoring applications, interviewing candidates, student recruitment and rendering student selection decisions. Participate in accreditation activities to assist in maintaining compliance with ARC-PA requirements. Work with program committee chairs and Administration to develop the ongoing assessment plan data management, reporting mechanisms, analysis, and action plans. Monitor the program Accreditation timeline to ensure all steps are completed in the plan. Maintain working knowledge of ARC-PA accreditation standards, changes, and trends. Perform Academic advising, mentoring, instruct, and evaluate students within areas of expertise as assigned. Participate in activities of state, regional, and national organizations to promote a positive image of the PA concept within academic, lay, and professional communities. Represent the Physician Assistant Program through service on University-level committees. Pursue professional development activities such as clinical practice, scholarly activities, or an advanced degree. Participate as a member of program-level committees. Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Physician Assistant

Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in physician assistant studies from an accredited program
  • Current NCCPA Certification
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 2 years precepting/instructing PA students or medical students
  • A valid physician assistant license for the State of Michigan or eligibility to obtain such licensure

OR

  • Doctoral degree, DO or MD with active Board certification and state licensure in Michigan or eligibility to obtain such licensure
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 2 years precepting/instructing PA students or medical students
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in quality improvement programs
  • Demonstrated abilities in teaching and curriculum development.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and the public.
  • Familiarity with the use of computers for organization, word processing, and communication.
  • Enthusiastic about working in a collaborative environment.
  • Self-motivated with refined organizational skills.
