Position SummaryThe Department of Sociology at Michigan State University (MSU) seeks candidates to teach courses for the Graduate Certificate in Animal Studies: Social Science and Humanities Perspectives for the 2022-2023 academic year. This 12-month annual position will begin on August 16, 2022 and may be renewed for additional years upon positive performance evaluation and sufficient budgetary resources. The successful candidate will teach the following courses: Animals & Environmental Sustainability; Animals & Social Transformations; and Special Topics in Animal Studies.

The teaching portfolio should document the candidate's interest, creativity, and proficiency in pedagogy. Candidates must include a 1-2 page statement of teaching philosophy, explaining how you put your philosophy into practice, and how you plan to implement, improve, and expand on your ideas and techniques. The teaching portfolio also must include each of the following materials from one course you have taught recently:
