The Athletic Training Outreach Supervisor will supervise operational and clinical responsibilities for MGB Outreach Athletic Training and Sports Medicine services at the contracted schools, focusing on high schools in the Boston region of Massachusetts. The role will collaborate with the MGB Outreach Athletic Training and Sports Medicine leadership team and will also perform the duties of an Athletic Trainer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultative services to athletic trainers to achieve stated goals for performance.
  • Participate in development and assurance of general and program specific competencies as it relates to the patient population served.
  • Manage technical, environmental, and financial resources effectively and efficiently.

  • Provide athletic training evaluation, intervention and documentation for adolescent through adult populations as indicated in the setting as allowed per licensing.

  • Practice in collaboration with other members of MGB interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients, families and others.
  • In the clinical setting performs duties as assigned to support department achieve goals.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities - Boston

    • Provide support, supervision, mentoring, and development of MGB Athletic Trainers, primarily serving athletic programs in the Boston Region.
    • Work with athletic organizations to meet the expectations of the athletic training agreement.
    • Work to cultivate new contracts in expanded markets.
    • Manage Staff including recruitment/hiring, coordinating/scheduling AT's across sites, and managing a per diem pool to cover all events.
    • Develop athletic training practice parameters in coordination with medical directors within MGB Sports Medicine team physicians.
    • Coordinate with physician practices to provide physician coverage both on the field and for follow-up after injury.

    Athletic Trainer Responsibilities

    • Direct care is provided to athletes including evaluation, assessment, treatment intervention and referral to other health care professionals as needed and per established guidelines.
    • Documentation of injuries completed per clinical guidelines.
    • Athlete and family teaching are provided as appropriate.
    • Staff teaching and in-services are conducted to support achievement of stated performance expectations.
    • Affiliated students are coached and mentored to achieve learning objectives in athletic training.
    • Assigned program activities are delivered to meet quality and outcome goals.
    • Clinical and administrative duties are performed according to center guidelines.
    • Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.



Qualifications
Education/Degree

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Athletic Training Program.

Experience

Required

  • Five years of diverse and well-rounded clinical experience preferably concentrated within the clinical specialties of the program.
  • Previous supervisory experience in one of the following capacities: supervisor, clinical instructor or supervisor of Athletic Trainers.

Licensure

Required

  • Licensed (and in good standing) as an athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • BOC certification.

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

  • NATA membership preferred.
