Battery COE Mechanical Specialist

The Battery COE Mechanical Specialist is technically focused detailed engineering lead for core engineering on traction battery mechanical design/integration for traction battery pack programs. The Battery COE Mechanical Specialist will work closely with vehicle thermal, vehicle structure and pack designers to oversee excellence in execution of design, validation and integration of battery pack designs into vehicle architectures and programs and will develop battery specifications, best practices and validations specific to battery mechanical design, and will manage lesson learned for mechanical design aspects.

Job responsibility include but not limited to:

• Overseeing mechanical design and application of CAE to insure mechanical integrity assessments to FCA standards
• Ensuring the engineering best practices and proper design principles are followed for structural performance, sealing, service
• Work closely with vehicle structures team to identify synergies for battery pack solutions that optimize package efficiency, mass, reuse across applications
• Manage core subsystem level design and validation requirements through cross functional collaboration between energy storage engineering, vehicle design/structures, and safety
• Participate in all technical critical design reviews and develop key read across learning to apply to future programs

The Battery COE Mechanical Specialist will be responsible to ensure that best practice design features and processes are implemented for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, etc. and develop/refine corporate battery mechanical requirements and specifications. Additionally, the Battery COE Mechanical Specialist will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation outlining best practices supporting FCA internal continuous improvement initiatives and the development of product technology roadmaps, for battery mechanical design.
