About the Department
The Pediatric and Adolescent HIV/AIDS Program, Care2Prevent, in the section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases works under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Clinical Director to provide patient care, case management, behavioral health services, and prevention and outreach programs for people living with HIV and those who are most vulnerable to HIV infection. Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Manager of Behavioral Health Services, the Behavioral Health Professional provides brief and long-term psychotherapeutic interventions from a variety of treatment approaches for individuals living with HIV and those most vulnerable to HIV infection. The role provides treatment for a variety of stressors and diagnoses, including C-PTSD, acute stress and managing stigma following a new HIV diagnosis, co-occurring psychological diagnoses and substance use, psychosocial stressors, and family/relational systems conflict. Collaboratively creates treatment plans with clients and interdisciplinary teams, and reassesses growth towards identified goals over the course of treatment and modifies treatment plans as necessary. Provides emergency and crisis intervention services as needed. Provides rapid intervention in Care2Prevent's HIV specialty clinic one evening per week. The Behavioral Health Professional attends interdisciplinary team meetings, mandatory trainings, case conferences, participates supports outpatient medical clinics, and participates in multidisciplinary client/community education efforts.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct clinical services, including but not limited to individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, family psychotherapy, facilitation of weekly psychosocial groups, and brief intervention/behavioral health support and specialty medical clinics and a few rapid intervention clients (24-28 clinical hours).
- Clinical documentation of services rendered including timely note-keeping of client encounters and completion of all reporting responsibility outlined by various funding sources. This includes completion of all contact efforts, screens, and a mental health assessment for long term psychotherapy clients.
- Works closely with Manager of Behavioral Health Services on the development of behavioral health-related trainings and presentations for in-house staff and affiliated community agencies and partner organizations. Assists with data management pertaining to services rendered and provides writing and research support for grant/funding-related tasks and research initiatives.
- Requires evening availability at least two days a week and availability for infrequent (2-3x a year) weekend work for special events.
- Must be able to travel locally to various off-campus locations including community partner organizations, on the Comer Mobile Medical Unit, and clients' homes.
- Has a solid understanding on counseling with an emphasis on prevention.
- Interprets treatment activities or approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients' status.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Certifications:---Preferred QualificationsEducation:- Advanced degree in social work (or equivalent) from an accredited institution (e.g. MSW, AM); advanced degree in counseling/clinical psychology (or equivalent) from an accredited institution (e.g. MA, MS); or advanced degree in marriage and family therapy (or equivalent) from an accredited institution (e.g. MA, MS).
Experience:
- Minimum of two years' experience delivering behavior health or psychosocial services (internship/externship experience can be counted toward this qualification).
- Two years' experience working with LGBTQ+ persons, individuals living with HIV, and/or substance use recovery work (internship/externship experience can be counted toward this qualification).
Licenses and Certifications:
- Licensure in State of Illinois as an LSW/LCSW, LPC/LCPC, or LMT/LMFT.
- CADC.
