General Description:

The Catering and Sales Manager oversees the sales, service, and customer relations for OCCC Dining Services. The Catering and Sales Manager often acts as an event coordinator and is present at all events. Responsible for the planning and organizing all catered events held at Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC), including the Visual and Performing Arts Center, and Capitol Hill Center. Oversee a team of catering staff, transportation, and set-up to ensure a successful event.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Associate's Degree in hospitality or related field

Minimum (2) years' experience in catering, management, and sales experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept a minimum (4) years' experience in lieu of Associate's degree.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of the practices and procedures of the catering, food & beverage and hospitality professions;

Effective communication skills

Ability to balance what the client requires with what is best for the institution and work together in a team atmosphere driving revenues.

Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery.

Responsible for driving customer/guest loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer/guest experience.

Designs, develops and sells creative catered events.

Maximizes revenue by up-selling packages and creative food and beverage.

Develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for group/catering sales opportunities

Excellent time management skills

Strong organizational skills

Strong customer service orientation and skills

Must be self motivated and results oriented.

Creative problem solving skills

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the OCCC campus and off-site outreach locations.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor office setting.

Bachelor's Degree in hospitality or related field

Work Hours:

Typical 40 hour work week. Hours will vary depending on business demand. Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):

Responsible for proactively soliciting and managing catering related opportunities with significant revenue potential.

Create quotes, contracts and banquet event order, diagrams, and invoices.

Collecting payment for all events prior to arrival.

Code and direct payments to correct entities on campus.

Actively up-sells each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity.

Achieves personal and team related revenue goals.

Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery. Responsible for driving customer/guest loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer/guest experience.

Catering Sales Manager, solicits, negotiates, and books new/repeat business by via outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, etc.

Achieves personal and team related revenue goals.

Key responsibilities will be coordinating all event room needs, as well as sales support. This involves direct sales calls and sales blitzes.

Conduct walk in site tours & pre-con meetings and chairs catering, banquet event order meeting

Maintains well documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management system in order to serve clients and employer in the most expedient, organized and knowledgeable manner.

Promptly follows up on all customer needs and inquiries in an efficient and expedient manner

Preparing contracts, reports, and other paperwork related to the sales department.

Effectively and professionally conveys necessary fundamentals and details of the sale to the client.

Catering Sales Manager is responsible for finalizing business while maximizing the event space to meet/exceed sales goals.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures):

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
