Position Title: Club Sports Graduate Assistant
Reports to: Director of Campus Recreation and Coordinator of Campus Recreation
Session: Academic (August 12, 2024 - May 16, 2025) This is a one-year placement with an opportunity for re-application and hire.
Hourly Rate & Leadership Classification: $17.00
Average hours per week: Up to 20 hours per week
Job Purpose: Graduate Assistant will assist with the overall operation of the Club Sports program and assist with advising Club Sports organizations. Expect 8-10 hours per week in the office and 8-10 hours per week attending sporting events.
Essential Duties:Club SportsAdvise student-leadership involved in Club Sports in best practices.Guide Club Sports teams in communicating with other Clubs to organize games, both home and awayWith Director and Coordinator of Campus Recreation, work to plan a calendar of events and games that the Club Sport teams will participate in each semester.Assist in managing the Club Sports Google Drive and each individual team's drive.Advise Club Sports teamsAssist in the recruitment of players to Club Sports by attending organization fairs and tabling alongside Club Sport teamsHelp Club Sports teams to properly fill out required paperwork for home events or travel forms.With the Coordinator of Campus Recreation, manage all Club Sports storage spaces, keeping them clean and checking out equipment and jerseys to Club teams as needed.Schedule Club Team and Individual PhotosAssist in duties as assigned by either the Director or Coordinator of Campus Recreation
MarketingWork to create Campus Recreation Newsletter, updating the student body on Club Sports and IM SportsAttend IM and Club Sport events to take pictures and videos to later edit for departmental useAssist in the social media promotion for Club SportsKeep Club Sport website updated with pictures, practice schedules, games results, club contact information, etc
Event Planning and ImplementationAssist in the supervision of large campus wide events, such as College Football Pick 'Em, Turkey Bowl, March Madness, and other events or activities sponsored and/or hosted by the Recreation Department.Help to advise campus organizations putting on events or activities sponsored and/or hosted by the Recreation Department.

ORAL OR WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS:Excellent written and communication skills required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:The functions of this position are a mix of sitting and some significant amounts of walking or standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting or carrying may be required. As schedules for programs and events may occur after 5 p.m. and on weekends, schedules will be adjusted accordingly.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:Some Club/Collegiate Sports Experience Preferred, Some Team Sports Experience Preferred
MINIMUM EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, or related field. Must be enrolled in a University of Lynchburg Graduate Program.
