CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Compensation Analyst 2 serves as an internal consultant and performs a variety of compensation activities in order to ensure that compensation programs are equitable and competitive enterprise-wide. This role assists with the development of pay structures for the organization based on information collected from within and outside the organization. Key responsibilities include the evaluation and analysis of salary data, job descriptions, salary surveys and organization/department internal equity. This role also works collaboratively with other Human Resources areas (i.e., Recruitment, Client Services etc.) and serves as a subject matter expert regarding compensation related concerns.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Evaluates new and existing jobs to determine the value of a position based on the responsibilities of the employee and ensures appropriate classification. Modifies and creates new job descriptions that accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and requirements. Configures pay grades and evaluates new employee titles and ongoing reclassification.
2. Surveys the existing pay practices in the organization; collects data from other organizations to establish whether employees are being paid reasonably.
3. Reviews current and predicts future compensation trends to assist the organization in making prudent decisions.
4. Creates and applies employee incentive plans and retention bonuses in order to maintain and attract top talent.
5. Conducts reviews of salary offer requests in order to ensure competitiveness, internal equity and overall affordability.
6. Reviews reorganization requests, including both job audit and evaluation. Documents job-specific findings and recommendations to contribute to a comprehensive project report.
7. Prepares reports, spreadsheets and executive summaries on findings and handles administrative steps to formalize recommendations. Communicates with stakeholders regarding the result of compensation work.
8. Handles moderately complex Compensation projects and initiatives, with some guidance from department leadership.
9. Reviews and approves one-time payment and activity pay request, ensuring adherence to plan documents and University policies and procedures.
10. Reviews and maintains Compensation webpages and other collateral to ensure information is accurate, current and consistent with University pay practices.
11. Assists with the development of training materials. Facilitates Compensation training and new hire orientation as needed.
12. Tracks and maintains all incentive plan program documents. Accounts for incentive plan document prior to payout.
13. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
