Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

Performs tape, library, print and report distribution functions for Western & Southern Financial Group. Updates the tape library ensuring the proper disposition of tapes. Performs first-level problem determination and resolution on problems involving Computer Center printers, escalating to the I/O Console Operator or vendor as needed. Works with some supervision and is responsible for making a minimal range of decisions, escalating to supervisor when appropriate and updating supervisor on a regular basis.
Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operates printers and checks accuracy and quality of printed reports, ensuring printed output meets quality standards.
  • Processes all reports completed by the Computer Center, and ensures their delivery to the proper locations.
  • Ensures printer maintenance is performed daily (cleaned, oiled, etc.) and checked off on sign-off sheet.
  • Logs and reports equipment malfunctions to customer engineers, while keeping the Input/Output (I/O) Console Operator informed.
  • Replies to console messages, pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Carries out verbal instructions of the I/O Console Operator.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all I/O procedures and processes.
  • Trains other operators, including new associates, on the equipment and processes of the I/O area.
  • Performs other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications

Selection Criteria:
  • Proven analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying printer problems, and providing effective resolutions. Cites examples of good decision-making skills when dealing with multiple alternatives. Occasionally defines problems, collects or interprets data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms; occasionally prepares correspondence, reports and forms using a prescribed format and conforms to proper rules of puncutation, grammar, diction and style.
  • Proven experience working effectively within a team. Must provide examples of collaborating with co-workers or peers in difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated examples of working under deadlines with minimal supervision. Must cite examples of successfully organizing and effectively completing assignments.
  • Proven good verbal and written communication skills; will occasionally express, exchange and convey information to customers in a clear, focused and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned. Ability to occasionally make repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Work Setting:
  • This position works in an office setting and remains in an occasionally stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment or while in meetings.
  • Occasionally raises objects from a lower position to a high position or moves objects horizontally from position-to-position (frequently exerting up to 10 pounds, unassisted and occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds).
  • Occasionally extends hands and arms in any direction.
  • Frequently moves about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moves from one work station to another.
  • Occasionally uses upper extremities to press against objects with force in order to move; uses upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects.
  • Occasionally ascends and descends from ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet, legs, hands and arms.
  • Occasionally bends the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist and bends body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Occasionally maintains body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching.
Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED.
Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):
  • None required.
Position Demands:
  • Must work a regular shift and be prepared to work extended hours when needed.
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
  • Routinely performs physically demanding activities such as lifting, pushing, bending, stooping, etc.
  • Exposed to higher noise levels on a regular basis due to printers and mail area equipment.
  • Must work as a team to meet departmental goals.
