Job Summary and Scope:
As a Continuous Process Improvement Intern, you will lead and/or participate in a process improvement project and strategies that are designed to realize synergies and provide significant value across the Veritiv enterprise.
This role will involve identifying and analyzing current state business conditions / processes and deficiencies and implementing improvement projects through cross-functional team involvement. Provide input in analytical/statistical tools and solution development, to management, process owners, users, and key stakeholders on efficiencies and effectiveness of controls and recommend procedural changes.
Job Responsibilities:
Process improvement: Define, analyze, and implement process improvements in pursuit of operational excellence and the achievement of Veritiv's strategic objectives.
Project management: Develop, implement, and manage projects throughout the entire process improvement life cycle
Project planning: Work with business sponsors and project team members, develop implementation project plan including timelines, milestones, training, and communication plans
Project execution: Drive ownership and accountability for executing tasks on time and on quality. Establish project team meeting cadence and provide visibility to key stakeholders of progress against key milestones, next steps, and issues or barriers to execution
Project valuation: Identify and document savings and/or benefits related to process improvement activity, and follow-up to ensure post-improvement sustainability.
Implement change management best practices to support and drive adoption of changes related to process improvement activities
Qualifications/Knowledge & Experience:
Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt Certification preferred but not required
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles
Proven ability to engage and motivate people of all levels and backgrounds.
Demonstration of effective interpersonal skills, especially in reaching consensus and handling conflict
Proficiency in Windows based software programs e.g., Power BI, Smartsheet, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Word, Microsoft Project programs required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills.
Strong problem-solving and attention to detail skills are required
Interest or experience in the following areas:
Leading process, change or training initiatives in a complex and fast changing environment
Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and project administration / management and leadership experience required
Ability to facilitate change activities, training sessions, or group informational sessions
Ability to be resourceful with strong problem-solving skills.
Strong project management and communications skills
Demonstrate the ability to create project plans that accurately reflect the required tasks and resources to achieve project milestones and to measure and monitor progress, processes and results
Ability to generate project status reports to identify constraints and issues, and provide early warning of critical path issues
Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
