Description:
Controller

Responsibilities

Reporting and Budgeting

•Monitor, analyze, and report monthly actual results against the budget including a variance analysis.

•Interface with department heads in monthly budget variance review. Summarize and present results to the Chief Financial Officer.

•Manage the monthly close process including Trial Balance review.

•Prepare and finalize monthly financial statements, including the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows, for review by the Chief Financial Officer.

Accounting and General Ledger

•Manage the daily operations of the Accounting department including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, banking transactions, credit cards, employee reimbursements, and payroll review.

•Reconcile monthly supporting schedules including prepaids and accrued expense; adjust schedules as required.

•Reconcile inventory journals based on cycle count and make adjustment entries.

•Make all recurring adjusting journal entries monthly and as needed including inventory and payroll.

•Manage amortization of loans and monthly adjustments to current and long-term balances.

•Manage the company's existing fixed assets accounting including depreciation schedules, entries, and reconciliation to the General Ledger.

•Manage the individual capital request process and track to the approved capital expenditure budget. Report monthly to the Chief Financial Officer.

•Create, enhance, and ensure adherence to GAAP-compliant policies, procedures, and internal controls.

•Assess the effectiveness of accounting and reporting systems and make recommendations to improve those systems as needed.

Audit and Tax

•Coordinate with the company's payroll provider and HR to ensure payroll, sales/use tax, and property and income taxes are reported and paid in a timely manner.

•Serve as lead for data gathering and coordination during the annual financial review or audit and address any audit findings along with recommendations for corrective actions to the Chief Financial Officer.

•Provide data and coordinate annual insurance audits as required for Workman's Comp. etc.

Treasury and Cash Management

•Manage day-to-day working capital needs of the company and reports fluctuations with variance analysis monthly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Team Management

•Collaborate with department heads to meet or exceed company goals and objectives.

•Build and lead an effective, collaborative team within Accounting with a service-oriented approach to supporting all other departments and employees.

•Willingness to coach and foster growth within the accounting department.

Culture Management (potential Section)

•Some of the comments can move into this section or fall under team management section.

Department Specific Tool management

•Manage all affiliate tools within Accounting Department: Microsoft Office based tools, QuickBooks, Aptean ERP, various accounting & financial software, Payroll tools etc....

Skills & Experience

•CPA preferred.

•10+ years of experience in a high-performing, sophisticated finance organization, preferably some experience in manufacturing and/or cost accounting.

•3+ years of managerial experience in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

•Advanced Excel skills and experience in an ERP environment.[ZA7]

•Ability to quickly assimilate into the culture of the company and work effectively as a cross-functional business partner.

•Excellent business acumen and problem-solving skills

•Outstanding communication and presentation skills.

•Ability to thrive within a culture of continuous improvement.

KPI's

Leads or assists with researching and implementing systems, processes, and software for better management of the company.

Cost Management and purchase oversight in departments outside Niko's scope.

Codifies procedures, processes, and role information (via office tools, and if there isn't one, then make it).

Demonstrates an "ownership" mindset.

Meets standards and completes responsibilities as assigned in additional written documentation, such as a Record of Conversation and/or Role Matrix.

Meets professionalism and leadership standards.

Key: maintains a cooperative working relationship with Senior Leadership, managers, and all other employees.

Key: understands the "shadow that is cast" by a leader and ensures a positive impact on employees and the organization as a whole.

Training of personnel

Participate in hiring and onboarding of new personnel, and understand Senior Leadership has the final say.

Be accountable for success and failures for new hire training/development.

Assess skillsets as training occurs to identify deficiencies and then develop a plan to fill those gaps.

As desired by employees, cultivate a culture where employees feel they can advance in positions if desired. Work with Senior Leadership and HR partners for career development.
