PURPOSE:

Provide leadership in the development, design and implementation of electrical controls systems to support manufacturing operations in meeting and/or exceeding established goals.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


* Provide strong leadership skills in successfully managing projects from inception to completion without frequent direct supervision. Responsible for reporting activities and results to management as required.
* Identify, develop, plan, and implement capital engineering projects with a focus on control systems.
* Research and present new technologies targeting improved process control and automation.
* Provide leadership in planning, directing and supervising engineering and plant personnel in support of ongoing operations and projects. Responsibilities include new product and process implementations with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Lead cross functional teams. Interact with all levels of employees, external vendors and customers.
* Serve as liaison between Corporate Engineering and manufacturing plants.
* Conduct Capacity Modeling and equipment capability studies.
* Provide a safe and productive work environment including housekeeping.
* Conduct all activities and behave in a method that is strictly consistent with the Company’s C.I.T.E. Principles and “Supporting Values” while striving to help the Company achieve its Vision.
* Perform other tasks as directed by direct supervisor.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

May supervise hourly and salaried employees in the assigned department and plants. If so, this position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of direct reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employee; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:



Education, Experience and Skills


* S. degree in Engineering; Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred but other disciplines will be considered. Advanced degree is a plus.
* Experience in PLC’s, Drives, Servos, robotics and support systems (HMI, SCADA…)
* Must have a demonstrated history of successfully leading projects in a plant environment that involves all levels of employees with measurable results.
* Prior TPM and Lean certification is a plus.
* Ability to learn new concepts and pass the knowledge along to others in classroom setting and practical environment.
* Candidates should be highly energized and self-motivated with experience working with teams to implement change and be adept at communicating with all levels to get everyone on board.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
* Personal computer skills in a networked environment, Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access) required.
* Management style and duties must be consistent with and support 2019 Vision and C.I.T.E. principles.



Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients/providers in an effort to coordinate team activities to support meeting the business objectives. Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.



Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply statistical and mathematical concepts as related to problem analysis and corrective action.



Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, utilize process and value stream mapping, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk around a shop floor environment, sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift 50 lbs on an occasional basis.



WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Typical office and plant manufacturing floor environment. The noise level is usually moderate. Out-of-town travel to other manufacturing locations to implement and lead engineering and maintenance activities is required. 40% travel is expected, however six of the companies fifteen facilities are located within driving distance of Winchester. Some weekend and off shift work required.
