Data Analytics Solutions Coordinator-AITS

Job Summary
As the Data Analytics Solutions Coordinator, you are passionate about helping clients across the University of Illinois system use data and analytical solutions to make data informed decisions. You work closely with leadership, colleges, departments, and other functional offices to identify, scope and deliver data products and solutions. You help our clients use student data to have a direct impact on the mission of the University of Illinois system in academic excellence, research and discovery, economic development, public engagement, and healthcare.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create trusted partnerships with System and University leadership, college, department, and other functional staff to identify business intelligence and data reporting solutions that serve their needs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the University's student and academic data and reporting solutions.
  • Work with project development teams to define and build analytical products, ensuring solutions align with client needs.
  • Market new and existing data and analytical solutions to increase adoption across the University System.
  • Provide customer service for university clients in their use of student data products.
  • Conduct training and create reference materials.
  • Lead/or actively participate in university committees and governance groups to identify opportunities where business intelligence and data analytics solutions are needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories: College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) Work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

1. At least three (3) years of experience, functional knowledge or exposure to university business processes, concepts, or data.
2. At least two (2) years of hands-on experience in at least two of the following areas: customer advocate, direct customer support, requirements gathering & analysis, training and education, technical documentation, business process analysis and/or product management or leadership.
3. Experience working with relational or dimensional databases, SQL query tools, and data analysis and/or business analysis.
4. Three (3) years of working experience in an information management technology environment that focuses primarily on data systems or business intelligence applications.
5. Two (2) years of functional, hands-on experience with data preferably in a higher education or not for profit.
6. Experience and knowledge of Data Warehousing initiative, Business Intelligence Competency Centers, and functional data areas in higher education or not for profit government environment.

  • 3. Comfortable in a results-oriented, self-driven role as well as working in a team environment.
  • 4. Demonstrated proficiency in support of business needs in both technical and non-technical terminology for customers and clients at a variety of skill levels.
  • 5. Demonstrated leadership in a business or IT environment where decisions or input is directly tied to results.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. Salary is commensurate with experience.
