Title: Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences

Job Summary

Jackson State Community College is seeking an experienced academic administrative leader for the Division of Nursing and Health Sciences. This twelve-month position serves as the senior academic officer for the division and is responsible for overall management and leadership of the division. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Job Duties

  • 60% - Develops and maintains an academic plan in alignment with the division goals, College's mission and strategic plan, with the over-arching goal of supporting student success. Coordinates data collection and assessment strategy for student learning and program outcomes to measure and plan for continuous improvement, student success, and accreditation. Conducts annual program reviews and assessment Recommends curricular changes based on data; ensures compliance with institutional, programmatic, TBR and SACSCOC policies Ensures quality of instruction in classes, regardless of method - (Essential)
  • 25% - Supervisor for faculty and staff in Nursing and Health Sciences Division which includes hiring, development, evaluation, load assignment. Initial contact for personnel issues related to faculty. Addresses student related issues. Works with Program Directors and campus staff to schedule classes and clinicals including times, dates, instructor, location, method. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Collaborates with Deans and Vice-President of Academic Affairs to review and update policies and procedures that impact the division. Serve on campus, professional, and TBR committees, and work teams as necessary Oversees grants and other funding related to responsible areas - (Essential)
  • 5% - Other administrative duties as assigned. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree required. Minimum of five years of experience in higher education. Minimum of three years experience in nursing and/or health sciences higher education programs. Minimum of two years in a higher education leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree preferred. Program director and/or program chair experience in nursing or health sciences field. Program accreditation and assessment experience. Experience with health care industry partnerships.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability and commitment to working collaboratively within the TBR community college system.
Ability and commitment to working collaboratively with faculty, health care affiliate partners, and college administration.
Ability to manage the division workload including the use of adjunct faculty.
Ability to communicate and plan effectively
Ability to manage operating budget effectively
Ability to supervise and evaluate faculty and staff

Pay Rate: $80,408 - $100,510 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
