Design Engineer I

Position Summary

Perform engineering activities that support customer order design, application, manufacture, assembly, test, installation, and servicing of Uninterruptible Power Supply Division (UPSD) products.
Essential Functions

• Perform engineering activities that support the design and manufacture of new UPSD products and the advancement of existing UPSD products.
• Coordinate outside design efforts of other design teams consistent with UPSD products and goals.
• Develop, prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and design drawings to support customer's technical requirements, and coordinate design with production, purchasing, and quality personnel.
• Assure resolution of all customer technical questions.
• Provide support to technical support personnel for field issue resolution and field installation as required.
• Work with vendors to resolve any technical design issues.
• Work with Quality Assurance and Purchasing to qualify new vendors.
• Travel to vendor and customer sites to provide product support as required.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 0-2 years' experience via full time employment, internships, co-op programs, or equivalent education and experience.
• Basic knowledge of UPSD products, switchgear, transformers and battery systems.
• Experience with reading, understanding and creating technical drawings and material.
• Intermediate analytical and problem solving skills.
• Intermediate interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees, and vendors.
• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
• Intermediate computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products, CAD software, and ERP/MRP systems.
