The Metaverse Art group brings together world-class experts to pioneer the future of social virtual and augmented reality applications, and we are looking for a leader in Art Management.As a part of the Metaverse Avatars & Identity leadership team, you will coordinate and drive the art team's involvement and engagement with cross-functional groups within the Metaverse organization and across the Family of Apps. Coming into this role, you will build strong executive relationships and partnerships across multiple internal cross functional groups including product, engineering, design, marketing, legal, and more. You will oversee the creation of quality content, help our avatars be loved and used by billions of users. And most importantly, you will continue to grow our multidisciplinary, diverse, and distributed art team.

Director, Art Management - Avatars Responsibilities:

  • Drive progress at people, and project-facing levels by handling executive communication, building new partnerships, supporting team growth and prioritization, nurturing culture, and more.
  • Become a trusted, strategic partner to product stakeholders, executive leadership by communicating and demonstrating the value of art, and by delivering insights that lead to demonstrable business value.
  • Educate multidisciplinary cross functional teams and a wide range of partners about the strategic value of art and technical art.
  • Effectively influence key partner leaders to gain alignment in prioritization, resourcing, and budgeting.
  • Create effective synchronous and asynchronous communication systems that demonstrate the value of the art team.
  • Understand Meta's strategic and competitive position in the Avatar space. Deliver products that are recognized best in the industry.
  • Support managers, technical leaders, and the creative director by communicating the progress with executive leadership, championing the team's needs to build a world-leading avatar system.
  • Provide thought-leadership in establishing, implementing, and improving direction, goals, and processes for executing both near and long-term vision.
  • Recruit and hire talented leaders across the world.
  • Make staffing decisions based on business priorities, both short term and long term, as well as team strengths and motivation.
  • Identify gaps and solutions for future growth and scale within the team or organization.
  • Build a diverse and an inclusive environment across the team, model inclusive behaviors, and hold managers accountable.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience leading creative work, overseeing creative and technical teams working in real-time, immersive 3D products, such as games, film, VR and AR products.
  • 5+ years experience directly managing, coaching and developing full-time employees.
  • Experience making operational contributions at both strategic and tactical levels at a large organization.
  • Experience driving changes in operational processes and aligning teams to a strategic vision by solving conflicts and misalignments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge to recruit, nurture, and grow leaders.
  • Experience presenting and pitching to executive leadership.
  • Experience with budget allocation and financial/performance tracking.
  • Interest for supporting ICs and other managers to produce a collaborative environment, where individuals bring in their best to produce effective results.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading in a real-time product with character focus.
  • 3+ years experience in managing managers.
  • Experience starting a team from the ground up, and scaling it significantly.
  • Experience working at a technology company, for an art-related product.
