Southwestern University, located in Georgetown has an immediate opening for a Director of Student Engagement and Activities position. The Director of Student Engagement and Activities provides direction and leadership for student leadership programs, student engagement programs, and student success initiatives within the Division of Student Life. This is a full-time, fully benefited, exempt position who reports to the Vice President of Student Life.

Primary Duties:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and assessment of campus transitions
    • Lead campus planning for "Setting Sail" welcome week. Collaborate with campus partners to organize Sprog orientation. Work cooperatively with those planning move-in and orientations for transfer students, veterans, returning students, and international students
    Lead efforts to design and implement a four-year co-curricular experience.
    • Collaborate with campus partners to create and oversee a distinctive program that serves as a roadmap for student engagement and success from the first year through senior year and into the post campus experience.
    Develop a comprehensive campus leadership program for students
    • Plan appropriate stages for leadership development as students spend more time in groups and organizations. Incorporate programs such as Strengths Quest and NSLS.
    Supervision
    • Supervise Coordinator positions within Student Engagement and Activities. Recruit, select, train, and supervise Graduate Assistants for Programming.
    Plan and implement large-scale campus programs with the Coordinator of Student Activities Represent the Student Life division on various campus committees Manage the McCombs Student Center
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree in higher education, behavioral science, counseling, or related field. Five or more years of direct experience in college student development, student life, or related area of university administration. Three or more years of supervisory and leadership experience with professional staff. Conflict resolution skills, ability to solve problems, adeptness with rapidly changing assignments. Experience in budget management. Knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
