Nuvera Fuel Cells, LLC is a manufacturer of heavy-duty, zero-emissions hydrogen fuel cell stacks and engines for mobility applications. We are seeking a Director, Product Engineering to join our team. The Director, Product Engineering leads engineering teams to support all Nuvera launched products with engineering solutions, processes and documentation to ensure the technical health and success in the market place. In close collaboration with all Nuvera functions worldwide, this role initiates, proposes and executes continuous improvements and updates on quality and cost in a broad product definition.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Product Improvement Strategy:

  • Strategy to resolve quality issues and threats clearly defined and communicated. Cost down strategy and projects clearly defined, resourced, and delivered. Key facilitator of Engineering Change Board decisions. Clear communication of strategy and status across the business.
Technical Excellence:
  • Director and teams have deep technical knowledge of current products and underlying technologies. Products meet or exceed efficiency, reliability, durability and cost targets. Develop and implement strategies for product lifecycle management, from moving products smoothly from development to production, end-of-life planning and product phase-out.
Leadership and Team Management
  • Effective recruitment and retention of a high performing team, resources allocated effectively to deliver CI projects on time. Mentor, coach and develop engineering talent.
Finance
  • Set annual operating plan (AOP). Track and manage budget to within +/-10% of AOPF at year end.
Required Job Qualifications (unless otherwise noted):

Educational Background

BS or MS degree in engineering discipline (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering)

Previous Work Experience
  • 15+ years of proven high-performance team management experience with demonstrated skills including coaching, feedback, direction, support, and resource allocation.
  • 15+ years of new product development and launch experience, preferably within a fast-paced technology environment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills and solid grounding in engineering fundamentals.
  • Mastery with requirements management, verification & validation.
  • Proven people management skills; building effective teams, managing resources. Demonstrated self-confidence to lead a team of subject matter experts.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities; ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a quickly changing environment while ensuring rigorous attention to detail and follow through.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently solve business and product level problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and responsibility-a "can-do" attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written), laterally with peers, upward with senior management, and with direct staff.
Travel Required
  • Up to 10% travel
