Job Description:

The Division EHS Manager position for Greif Industrial Products Group can work from the Delaware OH/ Smyrna GA offices, from a plant location, or a home base and report to the Director of Safety and Health.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as the lead safety and health resource and partner to approximately 45 US/Canada operating locations with a service-oriented approach based on respect, trust, and confidence.
  • Strategic thinking, development, and implementation of innovative safety initiatives and systems emphasizing short- and long-range planning and goal attainment to achieve world-class results.
  • Interfacing with and coaching senior business group leaders, plant General Managers, and staff on all safety and health matters.
  • Strong technical abilities related to heavy manufacturing and OSHA regulations, such as machine guarding, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, mobile equipment, and ergonomics.
  • Conducting and following up on facility safety audits, evaluations, and incidents.
  • Staying abreast of technological advances and regulatory changes to assess the impact on company operations.
  • Developing and teaching engaging safety training sessions.
  • Assisting with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and system-wide corrective action development.
  • Hands-on approach with leading multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment - must be organized, able to work independently, deal with change, and shifting work priorities.
  • Tracking and reporting leading and lagging safety metrics and using this data to formulate continuous improvement efforts.
  • Facilitating communication, better practices, and information sharing among all sites supported.
  • Having a passion for safety and inspiring others to carry out their responsibilities with an uncompromising attitude toward safety and health.
  • Partnering with Director Safety and Health and other EHS team members on companywide strategy development and deployment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish relationships and influence all levels across all functions, including management, line workers, government officials, customers, visitors, and other stakeholders or internal company organizations/partners.

Required/Desired Skills
  • 8+ years of proactive safety management experience in manufacturing required - previous experience in the paper/packaging industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations for general industry (29 CFR 1910).
  • Undergraduate in a related field desirable
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, evaluate, understand, synthesize, and interpret data - report results and make recommendations.
  • Professional designations (CSP, CIH, etc.) desirable
  • Strong technical/analytical problem-solving, influencing, and project management skills required.
  • Prior multi-site experience.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles and drive organizational change.
  • Skills in team building, coaching, and leading others.
  • Exemplary standards of integrity and ethics.
  • Excellent oral / written communication skills and training ability required - Spanish speaking ability sought.
  • MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
