Job Summary

Prepares general production drawing and details for parts and assemblies. Prepares product drawings for the company catalog. Provide the necessary technical support to sales, and production clarifying any questions pertaining to drawings, materials, specifications, products or assemblies. Under the direction of the Engineer makes simples calculations such as strength of materials, and weights. Prepares bill of materials and specification for products and assemblies. Develop detailed bill of materials, cost estimate and job routers for parts, subassemblies, assemblies and finished parts. Generates and maintains records for variances, performance against standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares submittal packages & drawings, general drawings, details for standard subassemblies, assemblies and drawings for finished parts including special items
  • Accepts and becomes proficient in additional duties as assigned
  • Make orthographic or isometric illustrations to assist the sales department or sales aids
  • Provides information when required for cost estimating, such as a blank layout and processing sketches
  • Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternatives. Also prepares and evaluates tolerances for packaging or shipping
  • Assists in the follow-up of prototype subassemblies, assemblies or finished parts with vendor or customers
  • Prepares initial drawings on designated test apparatus and monitors results
  • Provide input for product improvement, product development, special machinery design, and test equipment, tools, fixtures etc.
  • Works closely with plant manager and plant supervisor to ensure that part numbers, release dates and information conform to the "system"
  • Routinely submits his work to co-worker for peer review
  • Assist the sales force by answering or finding answers to the sales department questions
  • Communicates with customers on as required bases throughout the pre-engineering phase to ensure that the customer's true needs are being reflected in the products designed
  • Interfaces with other appropriate personnel and departments to ensure correct and timely completion of projects and to ensure correct fabrication of products
  • Accurately compiles project files, including drawings, bill of materials, and specifications. Also, schedules of engineering jobs to be released to the production department
  • Coordination of assigned projects with customer, sales, and production departments
  • Interprets customer supplied specifications and ensures our product meets the specification or make the changes so our product will meet the customer specifications

Goals and Metrics

  • Accuracy and timely output of shop drawing submittals
  • Quality of drawings relative to the project and technical requirements

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience using SolidWorks
  • Experience using NetSuite or IQMS or similar ERP System
  • Read and understand Production Drawings
  • Basic Computer Software Knowledge

  • Convert decimals to fractions and vice versa. Can count/add/subtract in 1/16ths in decimal form (.0625, .125, .1875, .25, .3125, etc.)

Compensation

  • The hourly pay rate is $37/hr.
