Key Responsibilities and Critical Success Measures
The Electronics Technician I position must Assemble, test, and calibrate portable instruments used by the Utility industry to identify natural gas leaks. Provide customer support through new products and repairs to meet customer demands. Instruments are used to safely protect lives and property associated with natural gas distribution.

  • Perform final testing and calibration on instruments and assemblies during manufacture. Forward all instruments and equipment to Quality Assurance with appropriate documentation
  • Troubleshoot and repair instruments, assemblies, and subassemblies during manufacture.
  • Construct components and/or subassemblies and assembles electronic equipment.
  • Train Instrument Repair personnel and customers to perform repair procedures.
  • Train and cross train new technicians.
  • Record, compute and analyze necessary test data and complete necessary documentation.
  • Report improper operations, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Recommend improvements in quality, procedures, components, and processes.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations and maintains a neat, clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have formal training in electronics technology.
  • 1 to 3 years' years' experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields.
  • Must be computer literate.
Responsible forThis position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance.   • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
