Job Description

The Electronics Technician is responsible for maintaining, testing, repairing, and installing electronic equipment and associated components using product specifications and standard diagnostic procedures. Equipment includes acoustic navigation equipment and associated peripherals such as heading sensors and heave compensators, surface navigation systems (DGPS), and computer systems with peripherals and associated software.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts routine and preventative maintenance of field equipment in accordance with existing maintenance procedures
  • Repairs field equipment, according to repair procedures, to component level where possible
  • Implements engineering changes on equipment and/or installs software
  • Troubleshoots problems on-site in the field or via phone
  • Serves as technical liaison with project managers, field crews, clients, and other offices during a project from mobilization to demobilization
  • Prepares and tests equipment for projects; identifies shortfalls in equipment levels
  • Drives company vehicles to docks and heliports; loads and unloads equipment
  • Installs equipment onto clients' vessels including hardware, firmware, and software interfaces to client-owned equipment
  • Performs field duties with survey staff when required
  • Maintains the company asset control system with specific respect to equipment maintenance
  • Maintains and develops Quality Assurance procedures relating to engineering tasks and participates in the company's safety program

Job Requirements
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions
  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Have or be able to obtain a valid passport, TWIC, PEC safety, OGUK (Medical) and water survival certifications
  • Possess an Associate's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering
  • Possess a high school diploma
  • Have 2 years experience working with electronics/tech support
  • Proficient with Windows 10 / Microsoft Office and operating 3rd party software programs
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to repair, install, and maintain equipment
  • Navigate and understand wiring diagrams
  • Experience repairing equipment to board level, including PC diagnostics software and tools, soldering and cold molding cable splices, DGPS, termination of coax cables, vessel mobilizations and demobilizations, and familiarity of USBL and LBL acoustic positioning
