ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Engagement Specialist will help the Wellspring Engagement Center team connect the dots from the street or shelter to positive outcomes that will help our participants lives get better. The person will need to be adept at interviewing, assessing and in recommending services (based on the participants need) that are available within Allegheny County. All interactions between the Engagement Specialist and the participant will require the taking of detailed notes, triaging and assessing participant needs, completing referrals, scheduling appointments, and relaying these appointments to everyone involved in care support for the participant. This position will be skilled at building strong trusting relationships quickly so that they are able to inspire change.

RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's in Human Services or related field with 1 year experience, OR a High School Diploma/Equivalency and 5 years of job related experience working with persons experiencing homelessness, mental illness and substance abuse issues.
• Act 33/34/73 Clearances
• Pre-Employment Drug Screen
• Valid Driver License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of the Position:

• Knowledge of the psychology behind the barriers that people face once they are in a crisis.
• Ability to present overall goals of the project. (Following probationary period each team member is able to articulate professionally how their position fits into the larger team.
• Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (Will train during probationary period is not trained prior to hire).

Work Schedule: Work hours are congruent with the Wellspring Engagement Center hours of operation. Primarily daylight, Monday - Friday.
