The Engineering Research & Development Technician will work very closely with our Engineering team and is responsible for setup and completion of projects and testing within our engineering lab. This role has the primary responsibility of ensuring lab tests are completed in a safe and timely fashion. Application of sound engineering practices is crucial to ensure customer's are satisfied and innovative products can be delivered to the market.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setup and completion laboratory testing on Mueller Products with an emphasis on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Safely perform laboratory tests on present, competitive, and experimental products and on customer returned products.
  • Fabricate, machine, and assemble fixture setups for experimental tests using electronic and mechanical test equipment.
  • Demonstrate diligence and thoroughness while conducting laboratory tests.
  • Perform necessary reporting and follow-up activities once laboratory tests are completed.
  • Perform necessary activities to ensure daily and weekly tasks are completed on-time.
  • Conform to all necessary PPE and safety requirements at all times.
  • Committed to delivering exceptional results.
  • Communicate and interact with all levels of the organization to facilitate action and drive improvements.

Required Experience
  • High School Diploma / GED
    • Associate Degree in an Engineering-related is highly preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings
  • Knowledgeable on laboratory equipment and testing techniques, including but not limited to, tensile testing, general pressure and flow principles, and thermal properties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees and outside professionals
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks / projects and determine priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve mechanical problems
  • Experience with power rotating equipment and test setups involving high pressure water and / or high pressure air systems.
  • Ability to utilize SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW is preferred
  • Familiarity with CNC programming, especially basic manual programming, cutting tools, and part work holding.
  • Working knowledge of PLC's, motion controls, and HMI's
