Position Summary:

Responsible for preventative and reparative maintenance of Manufacturing equipment, process and/or electronics located in the Production and R&D Departments. Equipment can range in complexity from standard laboratory equipment to full automation. Prepares and maintains appropriate reports in online Equipment files, Document databases and Equipment Request program. Including updating Equipment Binders, performing Installation Qualifications (IQ) and supporting other FDA and process protocols. Equipment project work assigned as required to support duplicating equipment or equipment improvements. Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Preventive and Reparative Maintenance duties on Production, Manufacturing, R&D Equipment lines. Maintains fixtures, modules, and tooling.
  • Maintains and writes Equipment Binders (EB), maintenance documents, and performs IQ's. Help maintain replacement parts.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturers to maintain equipment, processes and/or electronics in a safe and functional condition.
  • Performs Troubleshooting and repairs on equipment, automated systems in manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to use Hand and Power tools, Multimeters, Amp Meters, Manufacture test equipment, Calipers.
  • Ability to perform equipment activities, in equipment development as directed by project engineer with minimum supervision. Activities including assembly and testing of equipment, completing engineering studies and validations.
  • Follow Dexcom's Safety and Lock Out/Tag out (LOTO) program.
  • Required to work any shift.

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with PLC and Automated production/process equipment, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Electro/Mechanical systems, Resistance welders, Packaging equipment highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or technical school certificate preferred, but not required. Or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Proficient with MS excel, Word and Outlook, plus general computer skills.
  • Equipment and maintenance experience, equipment assembly and shop skills.
  • Experience maintaining high volume manufacturing equipment in an FDA environment

Functional Description

Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers.

Functional/Business Knowledge

  • Moderate understanding of general job aspects and some understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
  • Applies acquired job and company knowledge of policies and procedures to complete semi-routine tasks.

Scope

  • Work at this level requires following standardized methods and under immediate supervision on assignments that are semi-routine in nature.
  • Follows pre-established guidelines and procedures with minimal choice as to method of performance of the work.
  • Has contact with employees at other levels within the company. Information exchanged is generally non-complex.

Judgement

  • Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.
  • Works under close supervision.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience and a High School diploma/certificate or equivalent.

Non-Exempt Salary Details:

The annualized base salary range for this role is $41,900 to $69,900. Annualized values for non-exempt (hourly) positions are estimates, final annualized salary will depend on total hours worked. Final compensation package will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, business needs and market demand.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Examples of English language proficiency may include (but are not limited to): ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to verbally communicate with leadership, employees, and auditors; ability to comprehend spoken language.

Physical Demands (US only):

Employees in this position may be required to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time; frequent use of the hands, fingers, wrist, and greater arm to handle small materials, tools, boxes, and trays; lifting and carrying objects up to 50Ibs; occasional overhead reaches and lifts; occasional lifts and reaches below the knee; occasional pushing and pulling of materials and objects with moderate forces; occasional crouching/kneeling, twisting, and squatting movements.

Work Environment (US only):

Employees may be exposed to the following environmental conditions while performing this job: work near moving parts, work with chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat (non-weather), extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to intense light and/or intermittent light, fast-paced work, and elevated noise levels.
