Chief Objective of Position:

In consultation with the Director of University Events and collaboration with the University Events Team, the Events and Communication Coordinator for University Events assists with implementation, planning, marketing, and staffing for approximately 150 special events annually. The Coordinator will manage the marketing and communications efforts and assist with executing events for the Office of University Events.

Work Tasks:

  1. Assists with coordinating and staffing events for the Office of University Events, and occasionally other departments, as directed by the Director of University Events.
  2. Creates original graphic and written content for invitations, signage, print, and digital collateral materials.
  3. Creates, maintains, and updates marketing campaigns for events to include, but not limited to, email, online event registration sites and forms through Slate, Wufoo or other systems, digital marketing, creation of landing pages.
  4. Creates and executes University Events social media and web content. Works with the social media team to coordinate event postings and advertising, as needed.
  5. Supports and assists the University Events department in assessing and evaluating on-campus events, as directed by the Director or Assistant Directors.
  6. Supports University Events staff in ensuring that the University Events calendar is integrated with daily University operations and the EMS scheduling system, as directed by the Director or Assistant Directors.
  7. Assists University Events staff in maintaining a tracking system with detailed reports to document facility use, support, income opportunities, and create event summaries for the Office of University Events.
  8. Manages department event inventory, as well as preparing event specific packing lists and materials.
  9. Provides a detailed event schedule for weekly meetings.
  10. Provides content to OCPR team and review for accuracy CNU major event websites (Family Weekend/Commencement)
  11. Manages the event RSVP process, data management, and mailing list creation for events.
  12. Safeguards the confidentiality of departmental or office administration by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, students, staff, and handling confidential departmental records and files.
  13. Provides exceptional customer service to the CNU community, welcomes visitors, and answers questions regarding University events.
  14. This position is designated as a "responsible employee" who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.
  15. Develop and maintain very positive and professional customer service and/or relations within the office/department and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, guests, and employees. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) required:

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used for event preparation and coordination.
  • Knowledge of the latest social media and communication trends.
  • Ability to analyze situations, develop solutions and manage multiple priorities; work non-traditional hours; manage people and projects.
  • Ability to foster positive internal and external public relations. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt a communication style to a number of different audiences.
Required Education:

Master's Degree, or a Bachelor's Degree with work experience that equates to an advanced degree.

Experience Required:

Experience in basic graphic design. Experience in producing web, print, and social applications. Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite or similar programs.

Experience Preferred:

Experience with the methods, materials, equipment and techniques used for lighting and sound at events. Prior experience in a College or University setting. Working with Slate software. Experience coordinating a wide-variety of events. Experience creating invitations, flyers, emails, and social media marketing.
