Role Summary: Responsible to support programming efforts in B5 and B7 Fabrication plants

Our Erie, PA site is the largest facility under Wabtec; located on beautiful Lake Erie in Northern Pennsylvania and part of the Wabtec family of companies. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify programs for VTLs, VMCs, bending machines, lasers and Burn tables
  • Develop new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations
  • Work together with business leadership
  • Specify needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done
  • Deliver products as part of a team and works on cross functional teams
  • Leads analytical and design activities using proven technologies and vested approaches and methods
  • Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Support P&E strategic investment process and implementations
  • Assist with new product introductions
  • Provide leadership and oversight for tooling inventory and storage for both Fabrication plants
  • Provide planning and producibility back up support as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or High School Diploma/GED with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Prior experience working in Fabrication manufacturing and programming equipment highly preferred

Desired Characteristics:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • String interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Able to write programs for VTLs, VMCs, bending machines, lasers and Burn tables (plasma/torch heads)
  • Understanding of the PPAP quality process and be able to qualify parts from conception through validation
  • Strong understanding of multiple types of controllers: Fanuc, Okuma, etc
  • Ability to design holding fixtures and optimize tooling to increase efficiency to reduce costs
  • Knowledge in Mastercam, TeamCenter, Octopus, Virtek and/or SigmaNest/TruNest technologies highly desired
  • Experience with Bluco Welding tables desirable
  • Proficient in CNC code, alarms, process problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Capable of performing machinist assignments
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Working knowledge of Office products and ERP software
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with others

Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor manufacturing environment. The employee will work in areas exposed to production activities to include but not limited to production machinery, assembly operations, overhead cranes usage, and forklift traffic. The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.
