Overview

As a key financial partner to the Director of FP&A and Division President, the mission of the Manager of FP&A is to provide financial and analytical support to help drive financial and operational success in nearly every aspect of the Division's business including: sales, land acquisition, land development, construction, customer service, purchasing, and escrow / closings. Primary responsibility is managing the day-to-day financial and escrow operations for the division. FP&A Managers are challenged to proactively identify business opportunities and risks and work with functional leaders to translate them into actionable items that drive business decisions. The Manager of FP&A organizes and manages the Division's detailed monthly financial forecast, including key operating statistics, income statement, balance sheet and cash flows.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops deep understanding of the industry and business operations
  • Acts as a strategic business partner to the Division President and each division department head
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of escrow, including contract and closing statement review
  • Develops the 3-year strategic plan, annual plan for the division, and provides regular updates to those plans
  • Creates, maintains, and reports on the margin expectations for the division and identifies opportunities for improvement to those margins
  • Prepares the division's operating budget in partnership with each department head
  • Identifies and implements improvement opportunities that drive increased division operational performance
  • Collaborates with division's senior management team to develop and manage the division's pricing strategy
  • Identifies gaps to financial goals and creates solutions in order to achieve objectives
  • Participates in the month-end close process, including reconciling/reporting monthly unit activity to corporate FP&A
  • Ensures compliance with SOX controls as directed by corporate accounting
  • Assists in the development of land acquisition strategy and generation and review of financial underwriting for prospective land purchases
  • Monitors and maintains land development budgets, invoices, and contracts
  • Analyzes production universe and cycle time to ensure forecasted results are achievable
  • Performs ad-hoc financial modeling and analyses
  • Drives other corporate and division projects, as neede
  • As appropriate: Hires, trains and mentors FP&A and Escrow team members. Delegates work, as appropriate, to finance and escrow team members, based on each employee's abilities and skills. Evaluates employee performance and provides development opportunities for each team member


Education & Experience

  • BBA/BS in Accounting/Finance/Economics.
  • 4-7 years prior finance or accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA or MBA highly preferred.
  • Prior homebuilding experience preferred.

  • Hyperion, Essbase and JD Edwards experience a plus.
