We are seeking a candidate with excellent customer service skills to join an established non-profit organization in Silver Spring as a Front Desk Assistant! The ideal candidate will possess administrative experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This contract-to-hire position offers a the opportunity for growth and development. Compensation is $20 to $24 per hour depending upon experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist visitors, clients, and employees with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, and redirect inquiries to appropriate personnel.
  • Manage the front desk area, ensuring it remains clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, including sorting, distributing, and preparing packages.
  • Assist in maintaining office supplies inventory and placing orders as necessary.
  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources department, including filing, data entry, and document preparation.
  • Assist with the onboarding process for new employees, including paperwork and orientation scheduling.
  • Help coordinate employee events, trainings, and activities.
  • Maintain and update employee records and databases with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with HR-related tasks such as benefits administration, payroll processing, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to support overall office operations and workflow.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a front desk setting preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Excel and Outlook
