About the role:

WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for a Gearing Technician to join our team in Duluth, GA. This role performs final assembly of gearboxes of all types within the WEG range while supporting the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
  • Assemble industrial gearboxes according to customer specifications.
  • Receive inbound components, check against purchase order/packing slip for accuracy, shortages and damage.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory in the correct locations and organized in an orderly fashion.
  • Read work orders, BOMs, and work assembly instructions including tooling layout diagrams.
  • Use a forklift, pallet jack, or ladder for picking of components for assembly.
  • Perform quality tests on finished products.
  • Operate an industrial painting system for final painting of product.
  • Work with shipping department to perform or assist with final boxing or crating of product.
  • Perform analysis on returned gearboxes, repair as necessary.
  • Communicate with other personnel to facilitate solutions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education:
  • High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge / training:
  • Will be required to learn gearbox and motor assembly and testing skills.
  • Prefered - Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly (bearings, shafting, gears, etc..).
  • Prefered - Proficient in reading assembly prints, BOM�s, and work assembly instructions.
  • Required - Ability to use manual and power tools.
  • Prefered - Familiar with inventory control procedures.
  • Will be required to learn industrial painting operations.
  • Will be required to operate a forklift (both sit down and stand up types).
  • Prefered - Effective time management skills to ensure on time order delivery.
  • Required - Understand and follow safety procedures.

Experience:
  • 1 to 2 years mechanical assembly experience (gearbox, power transmission, or motor assembly experience.
