POSITION PURPOSE

Under general supervision of Community Liaison, provides group health education classes to a variety of audiences in various settings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates on program design and delivery with Coordinator(s) and other staff members.
  • Assists Coordinator(s) with design of varied health education and health promotion services targeting a variety of populations.
  • Provides input into development of program objectives and goals, content, supporting materials, and other relevant activities.
  • Assists with marketing and promotion activities as appropriate under supervision of Coordinator(s) or Director.
  • Presents health education programs to various audiences and participates in health screening/outreach events.
  • Performs biometric screening, i.e., cholesterol, blood pressure, etc.
  • Assists Coordinator(s) with gathering, analysis, and interpretation of data related to health education programs that have been presented. Assists in evaluation of program quality.
  • Maintains program records, manages inventory of program materials, collects money or insurance billing information from participants, and assures that materials are available and properly set up at various program sites.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends in the fields of health promotion and health education.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
  • Bachelor's Degree in health education or related discipline; prefer exercise related field.
  • RN, BSW, RD, or other licenses/certifications may be required for content-specific classes.
  • Two to three years' health education program delivery experience, preferably with a wide variety of ages.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Oral and written skills. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in a clear manner to varying audiences. Planning skills necessary in program design, goal setting, and evaluation. Technical ability to operate multi-media audio-visual equipment. Competent in operation of Windows, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, Power Point, and related computer software.
