Position: Instrument Controls Automation Specialist

Location or Area: San Antonio, Texas, Victoria, Texas - Eagle Ford Shale - STX
Overtime Eligible/Non-Exempt - Full-time
Overview: This position is for a currently experienced automation specialist in the Eagle Ford Shale. This position will need experience in onshore oil and gas operations, particularly around delivering field-level expertise with respect to day-to-day operations and automation activities at on-shore oil and gas well pads. This position will also focus on activities associated with larger project work, such as flare safety upgrades, tank battery reconfigurations, pipeline tie-ins, well site simplification, and cooler removals. This position will be responsible for the automation portion of the work scope, including digital and pneumatic control and safety systems, monitoring systems, and RTU tie-in.
Other Job Responsibilities may include:

  • Provides safety leadership enforcing the Client's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and objectives to ensure that I and C designs are inherently safer, risks are reduced, and HSE requirements are satisfied. Provides leadership, along with the Clients' Technical Authority, for the overall instrument and control design efforts. Ensures that appropriate design specifications and standards are being used in the design process.
  • Ensures project design is consistent with the client's integrity management standard of Guidance on Certification and industry standards. Reviews and provides comments on instrumentation and control designs: reviews P&ID's, loop drawings, instrument specifications, and instrument selection.
  • Provides safe, operable, and efficient equipment designs; evaluates and selects vendors and equipment.
  • Identifies integration and infrastructure issues. Provides consultation and problem resolution.
  • Assists with performance tests, problem resolution, checkout, commissioning, and startups.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Project Engineers and Project Lead. Coordinates work efforts with the Technical Authority.
Education/Experience: Experience in the Eagle Ford Shale and with Onshore Oil and Gas day-to-day operations , High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required. The ideal candidate should be in San Antonio, Texas, Eagle Ford Shale - South Texas.
