Reports directly to a member of the Risk Control Services Management team. The Risk Control Representative within an internship (RCR-I), will be employed for 12 weeks (unless another time frame is negotiated) and complete a series of assignments related to client service with an emphasis on analysis of workers compensation risk characteristics and controls. The following are examples of work assignments during the internship:

  • Complete client specific and industry analysis of loss trends and prepare exhibits for presentation
  • Prepare client service reports and educational materials for distribution to mid-sized clients throughout the country
  • Assist regional colleagues with client service projects as directed by your supervisor
  • Work remote or in a PMA Companies office and have the opportunity during the internship to participate in field visits to clients with regional Risk Control team members
  • Meet with various representatives of PMA to learn about the insurance industry and discuss career options in the industry
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage and complete multiple assignments on time and work under the close supervision of a Risk Control Manager
  • Complete all required documentation for assignments
  • Submit and review updated activity reports with your supervisor on a weekly basis
  • Actively participate in conferences with PMA department representatives designed to heighten your awareness of the insurance industry and explore career opportunities in the industry
  • Execute job duties towards achieving desired business goals and meet the internship requirements for your school
  • Demonstrate commitment to Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards, and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.


Requirements:
  • Currently a Junior or Senior in a qualified college or university with a GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Major in Risk Control, Risk Management, Analytics, Occupational Safety or similar degree preferred
  • Competent in utilization of MS Office with an emphasis on analyzing data using Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can work alone and in teams
  • Work under the direction of direct supervision
  • Strong verbal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Desire to learn and demonstrate creative and critical thinking in completing assignments
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable MVR
  • Must be able to navigate through client locations in a safe manner including:
    • Ascent and descend ladders and stairs to observe and evaluate client exposures
    • Walking in interior and exterior environments where hot and cold exposures may be present
