RESPONSIBILITIES

On a global scale, Wood serves the Life Sciences, Oil & Gas, Federal, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Mining, and Power Industries. Our Philadelphia office has become the Center of Excellence for our global Life Sciences network, providing full-service pharmaceutical and biotechnology engineering, design, procurement, and project management services.

We're looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual with the ability to execute all phases of project design. Project sizes will vary and will include both existing building improvements and new construction. Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision making capabilities, problem resolution skills, and a sense of initiative are important for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of routine tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff and the methods, practices, and programs of the company.
  • Collects and evaluates data and develops plans for assignments that may involve design application.
  • Performs limited assignments of specific engineering tasks, such as contributing to a minor phase of a larger project. Emphasis is on documentation, monitoring, and carrying out basic calculations.
  • Assists in the development of engineering deliverables including, process flow diagrams, heat and material balance(s), Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), calculating loads for clean utilities, line sizing, and distribution design (water for injection, clean steam, process gases)
  • Assist with the specification and selection of process equipment (chromatography columns, pressure vessels, bioreactors, filtration skids) to meet project criteria
  • Maintaining effective communication with project team members
  • Assists more experienced Process Engineers with specific aspects of more complex tasks.
  • Work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy by a Senior Engineer
  • Review of submittals and shop drawings


QUALIFICATIONS

  • At minimum, a current Sophomore, pursuing a BS or MS in chemical/mechanical/bioengineering from an accredited university
  • AutoCAD and Process Modeling experience a plus
  • Experience within Life Science Industry preferred
  • Acceptance of a hybrid working environment (employees come into our office 3 days a week, minimum)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision making capabilities, problem resolution skills, and a sense of initiative
