Java Engineer Job Title: Java Engineer (Mid or Senior level)
Location: 100% REMOTE
Salary: $130k-$160k/yr base, 10% bon

We are a fast-growing private financial services company that is seeing another year of excellent growth and is looking to grow our engineering team. We are in the process of updating old financial systems and revamping them with the newest tech and need your help to get it done! We are primarily using Java and SQL as the basis for most of our systems, so a strong grasp of these two is necessary to be successful in this role. If you have a strong Java and SQL background and want to work with the latest technologies while improving your backend prowess we encourage you to apply! What You Will Be Doing -You will define, develop, deploy and maintain a number of real-time event-driven services and user interfaces that will be the foundation of the new platform
-Along the way, you will learn about the problem space and re-imagine the solutions
-You will work on a mix of front-end, client-facing features and integration back-end services using multiple languages and frameworks
-Define, develop, deploy and maintain a mix of front-end, client-facing features and integration real-time/event driven back-end services using multiple languages (Java and Python) and frameworks to connect users and other systems to our major system
-Demonstrate the ability to think appropriately through solutions for different layers of the enterprise
-Develop and maintain a clean and consistent API for both internal applications and external client applications
-Write self-documenting and well-tested code with an emphasis on sustainable development practices
-Work as a part of small productive engineering team that puts an emphasis on code quality, peer reviews and strong engineering practices
What You Need for this Position -5+ years of professional experience working as a part of a multi-person engineering team that utilizes automated testing, CI pipelines and peer reviews
-2+ years of mid to senior experience is a necessity as you will be expected to review an existing codebase and contribute by following established practices and patterns without day-to-day supervision
-Strong proficiency and in-depth understanding of Java
-1+ years of experience using Python
-Strong understanding of RESTful API conventions and distributed architecture
-2+ years of experience with SQL or Postgres
-Experience building real-time, event-driven, multi-tenant applications is a big plus
-Front-end: Experience with React, Vue, or Angular is a plus
