Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Intern to join our team at Asahi Kasei Bioprocess! The person in this role will be responsible for running Massachusetts Training Center (MTC) site specific projects as determined by the Laboratory Coordinator. Projects includes operation of the Cytiva (GE) AKTA chromatography system along with chromatography method development. Keep/manage data and record fidelity, in a timely manner. Present experimental data and be responsible in developing standard operating procedures and site documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate installation, start up and operation of the Cytiva (GE) AKTA chromatography system. Develop a Protein A chromatography method for the capture of a monoclonal antibody and quantify the results. Deliverable for the project includes a completed SOP and a documented protein capture method
  • Establish and regulate any additional SOPs regarding laboratory operation, safety etc., and ensure alignment with AKBA S&T as required.
  • Conduct and report on application work on for the Cytiva (GE) AKTA. Present findings and results to an internal audience including MTC, Sales and S&T.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Education: 2 - 3 years college experience in a science discipline required (Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Chemistry preferred)
  • Experience: At least 2 years in an academic laboratory environment.
  • Experience: Familiarity/training on quality and safety objectives and any certifications are a plus.
  • Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Office.
  • Effective written, verbal and presentation skills.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
  • Laboratory environment. Ability to follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
