Who We Are:

The Structural Dynamics and Product Assurance Section provides engineering stress screening and qualification testing to assess functionality, structural integrity and compatibility of equipment subjected to extreme environmental conditions.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Interact with customers to interpret work scopes, define deliverables, and offer solutions to best achieve desired outcomes.
  • Generate proposals/cost estimates for resulting scope of work.
  • Perform and/or oversee test setup, execution, and reporting for internal and external customers.
  • Provide support for reliability evaluations.
  • Conduct engineering assessments upon potential failure of test articles and offer value-added recommendations.
  • Provide support for design of test fixtures, test facilities, or test assemblies that will achieve the desired test condition and oversee fabrication.
  • Perform design and/or dynamic analysis tasks when required.
  • Lead laboratory activities including scheduling facilities and technician staff to facilitate efficient use of equipment and personnel.
  • Implement maintenance schedule to improve facility reliability.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Generate cost estimates or formal proposals for internal and external and clients.
  • Generate test plans, test procedures, and project reports in support of resulting test programs.
  • Maintain reasonable balance between proposal and projects.
  • Interface with customers and internal team members to ensure timely completion of project tasks.
  • Research and maintain familiarity with applicable test standards, regulations, or customer specifications to ensure appropriate tests are being performed and that test parameters are being met.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Manage project budget, schedule, and scope to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Identify business growth opportunities and take steps to generate revenue in new areas.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors with a 3.20 GPA in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or directly related engineering degree with related experience
  • 7-12 years: Experience with vibration/shock testing, mechanical design, instrumentation used for lab experiments (acceleration, temperature, voltage, strain), basic controls and/or data acquisition equipment (LabVIEW preferred)
  • Familiarity with quality management systems
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks and/or PTC products) and reliability engineering is preferred
  • Some coding/programming experience is helpful
  • Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills with some experience in technical presentations
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required

Special Requirements:

Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
