Lecturer and Assistant Director of Lead Forward

The John Martinson Honors College seeks a candidate with interest and experience in leadership development and community engagement for a position as Lecturer and Assistant Director for Lead Forward. Primary responsibilities include working in a small team to continue development and delivery of a new innovative program called Lead Forward, which promotes the capacity of undergraduate honors students for social change leadership. The is a continuing, 9-month AY salaried position with a start date of August 12, 2024, or earlier if available.

The position involves teaching courses on social impact leadership and community engagement as well as courses on leadership development more generally. The normal teaching load is 3-3. Administrative responsibilities include support with program assessment, a visiting speaker series, and administering a fellowship grant that provides funding for social impact initiatives. The position may provide support to other leadership programming efforts in the college, as needed.

Strong teaching skills are essential for the position. The successful candidate will have experience promoting leadership and community engagement skills through various teaching strategies, such as those related to experiential learning, applied learning, service learning, and/or community-based learning. Experience with leadership frameworks commonly taught to undergraduate students, such as the social change leadership model, is desired. The successful candidate will also have experience and skills related to program administration, such as planning and delivering events or other educational activities outside of the classroom.

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in any field. Education in a field with emphasis on engagement, applied learning, and/or social issues would be favorable.
