Description:
Full Time - 40 hours a week
Rotating schedule: which includes day/evening/night shift coverage along with a weekend & holiday rotation.
Required: CPR certification & a valid New York State drivers license with a clean driving record
POSITION TITLE: Counselor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing direct and indirect services to clients and families.

  • Provides direct client services including case management, group counseling, skills training, ADLs and providing transportation in a company vehicle.
  • Develops and reviews individualized Service Plans with assigned residents
  • Performs and monitors all resident/staff household duties
  • There are some shifts where the Counselor would work independently

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
  • High School diploma/GED with 4 + years experience in human services, OR
  • Associates degree with 1- 3 years experience in human services, OR
  • B.S. degree with 0 years experience. Liberal Arts degree in human service-related field preferred.
  • CASAC certification a plus.

Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Current BLS/CPR certification and First Aid training.

Will maintain yearly in-service training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Clinical setting. Exposure class I - routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Medium work: must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull. Physical demands required to help in physical restraint of a patient.
