The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered 50 - 100% (20 - 40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in our UICC North Dodge Neurology Clinic.

Our Neurology Clinic provides consultation services, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatments for adult patients with a broad spectrum of disorders affecting the nervous system. Our general neurologists are committed to providing specialized care with a generalist perspective, ensuring an innovative, effective, and personalized approach, and diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of neurological conditions. Patients with any neurologic problem, uncertain about their neurological condition, experiencing neurological symptoms, or needing a neurological evaluation may receive care in the general neurology outpatient clinic.

The LPN's within the Neurology Clinic is responsible for assessing a wide variety of adult neurology patients and ensuring patient care standards are met. This position is part of a dynamic environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients.

Our LPN's develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor each family member's health care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient.

This position supports our clinics team-based care model spending more time within patient care as well as FREE on-site parking at our North Dodge Clinic!!

Duties to include:

  • Support Neurology Clinic patients.
  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel. In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
  • Facilitate the smooth flow of patients through the clinic through interaction with patients, families, and staff
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Percent of Time: 50 - 100% (20 - 40 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM based on clinic needs, no holiday and no weekends and no on-call time. Shifts may be 8 or 10 hours.

Salary: $42,569.76 - $63,424.96 / Hourly: $20.31 - $30.26 (based on years of experience)

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit. Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATION:
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
HIGHLY DESIRABLE REQUIREMENT:
  • Minimum one year experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse/LPN
Desirable Requirement
  • Previous neurology clinic experience
  • Previous EPIC experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous experience successfully working autonomously
