Multiple positions available on either afternoon shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) or midnight shift (11:00 PM to 7:30 AM). Days shift positions are not available. Level of position will be determined based on relevant experience.

The purpose of this position is to learn CNC machining processes, procedures, and production skills to ensure accuracy and consistency of product are achieved to meet customer needs. These positions will be assigned to one of our four operational areas upon hire date. Operator II will be required to be signed off on 2 operational areas; and Operator III will be required to be signed off on 3 operational areas within 12 months of hire date as long as business conditions allow. Operational areas are Ring Gear Turning Lines (Murata MW200), Okuma turning centers, Pinion area (Murata MW 50 single and dual lines) and Castellation Area.

This position is responsible for but not limited to the following duties :
  1. Ensures safety is the number one priority for themselves and others by following plant safety standards.
  2. Performs daily production and production related tasks with a high emphasis on quality.
  3. Monitors and adjusts CNC machinery as required; conducts quality checks as outlined in process control plans and work instructions.
  4. Become familiar with specifications, document control processes and/or work instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence or operations and setup requirements, and verifies conformance of finished work piece.
  5. Setup, start, observe, and operate conventional, special purpose and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers in accordance with the work instructions and all other standard work documentation, adjusting controls and control media as required.
  6. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edict computerized machine control media.
  7. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on CNC machines.
  8. Records physical production, inventory changes, and completes all process control and quality documentation as required.
  9. Performs routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs of process problems and breakdowns.
  10. Recommends, supports, and helps implement plant continuous improvement projects and problem-solving efforts; develops an understanding of the plant's vision to meet business plan objectives.
  11. Load, unload, and inspect product.
  12. Conduct assigned housekeeping and quality tasks.
  13. Participates in plant teams.
  14. Works with a safety-first mentality.
  15. Is flexible to work any shift assignment and overtime as needed. May at times be required to run multiple machines, as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of CNC machining experience in a high-volume environment.

Preferred Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED with eight years of CNC machining experience in a high-volume environment.

Technical Skills:
  • Experience in Murata turning centers, Okuma turning centers
  • Experience in high volume & tight tolerance automotive CNC production
  • Experience in complex offsets
  • Must be able to complete math with adding and subtracting negative numbers (-14 + 17)

Physical Demands & Frequency Requirements:
  • Continuous standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, reaching and manual manipulation of parts.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Manufacturing work environment with moderate exposure to unusual elements such as wet and/or humid conditions. May include transportation and handling of product waste.
  • Vision must be corrected distance acuity 20/40 better eye; corrected near acuity 20/33 better eye.
  • Hearing at a conversational level.
  • Operates forklift and similar machinery and equipment.
  • Required to wear protective safety glasses, hearing protection where required and safety shoes where required.
