We are actively recruiting for a Maintenance Mechanic for our Sparks, NV plant location within our Colorite Division of Tekni-Plex.  $1,500.00 Sign-on Bonus! This position is for 3rd shift. 

Summary / Purpose

The maintenance mechanic ensures operation of mechanical and basic electrical systems of compounding process equipment and the facility related equipment through troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance. This is to be accomplished through the utilization of engineered drawings, operation manuals, and OEM specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze equipment malfunctions and determine cause using mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical skills.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting of secondary plant distribution system (switch gear, breaker panels, wiring/busses, junction boxes, switches, outlets, etc.).
  • Familiarization with local, state and national building codes including the NEC.
  • Calibrate and adjust plant instrumentation.
  • Perform minor instrument repairs.
  • Familiarization with common preventative maintenance practices as well as the importance of the record keeping accuracy associated with it.
  • Process work orders utilizing a computerized maintenance system.
  • Active participation in a project lead role as required.
  • We should specify or eliminate.
  • Participates in plant safety / housekeeping audits to ensure a safe work environment.
Qualifications/Education/Experience:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 5+ year’s maintenance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment or a combination or work experience and education. Highly desirable for the candidate hold a certification / license in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, welding or general construction. Electrical experience a plus. Ability to make routine decisions and report / communicate malfunctions to management.  Demonstrated ability to read and understand blue prints, wiring diagrams, etc.

Language skills:

Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Math skills:

Ability to read meters, schematic diagrams, blueprints, other measuring instruments, and basic computer skills.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit and frequently required to stand, bend, push, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, use hands & fingers, talk and hear.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:

Exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate to high. Must be GMP compliant with gowning and proper attire/uniforms (i.e., head/shoe/beard covers and eye protection where appropriate).  May be required to wear ear plugs occasionally.
