Position Summary

The Fund Management team is responsible for the operation of Carlyle's Global Private Equity and Global Credit funds. Managers within Fund Management are assigned to one or more investment funds and are responsible for supporting all aspects of the funds' operations including quarterly valuations, investment funding and execution, investor reporting, compliance, tax and legal matters as well as internal financial planning and analysis for associated business units.

Responsibilities

Valuations:

  • Coordinate and review financial valuations and underlying support for fund portfolio companies prepared by investment teams. Coordinate with the investment team, Valuation Group, third-party valuation firm, and partnership accounting on quarterly valuation deliverables and reporting.
  • Track and maintain appropriate controls and record-keeping
  • Support the annual audit process by providing valuation support and detailed investment information
Transaction Support:
  • Liaise with partnership accounting, fund management administrative consultants, fund counsel, tax, and fund coordination functions to support the process of transaction execution (new investments, exits, restructures) including documentation and administration, entity formation, transaction structuring, and managing external service providers regarding reporting requirements (as applicable)
  • Oversee the process and timeline of borrowings, capital calls and distributions
  • Review capital call/distribution and waterfall calculations


Fund Forecasting:

  • Support the preparation of annual fund operating budgets and quarterly reforecasts, including reviewing portfolio company exit forecasts and coordinating updates to the operating revenue and expense projections. Perform quarterly budget-to-actual variance analysis
  • Provide ad hoc forecasting analysis, including carry allocations and scenario modelling for Fund CFO and senior leadership
Fundraising:
  • Coordinate with legal, compliance, investor relations and external counsel to support fundraising efforts for new funds and co-investment offerings, including preparation of marketing materials and preparation or review of responses to investor due diligence requests
  • Support negotiations and legal review of fund documents
  • Support FM aspects of fundraising (coordination of closings, entity formation and coordinating across teams for legal, tax, and investor diligence)

Reporting:

  • Drive the timeline for quarterly investor reporting, including coordination with the investment teams and central reporting team on portfolio company deliverables and review of quarterly reports.
  • Coordinate with the investment teams and partnership accounting on the preparation of the semi-annual IAC meeting materials
  • Support Fund CFO and Segment CFO in reviewing key performance metrics, detailed data requests, preparing presentations, and ad hoc financial analysis
  • Prepare / review responses to ad hoc investor requests

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • 5-7 years of prior experience in an analytical or financial role
  • Analytical capabilities and an understanding of the accounting and financial principles related to private equity funds and the ability to apply the principles to the tasks at hand
  • Strong and confident communication with Investment Professionals, Investor Relations Professionals, and other Investor Service team member (Internal) as well as Investors and Service Providers (External)

Education & Certificates

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred

Professional Experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment and balance multiple tasks
  • Significant overtime as well as availability outside of normal business hours required frequently, especially during quarterly valuation cycles, in connection with deal closings and during fundraising periods
  • Self-starter and problem-solver
  • Strong interpersonal skills a must
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary matters is essential
